Medical Illustration & Tutorial for Pharmaceutical Recall Litigation

When a prescription drug was withdrawn from the market after FDA advisories warned of the risks of side effects, thousands of lawsuits commenced throughout the U.S. I was part of the team assisting one of the defendants, and it fell to me to illustrate some of the underlying conditions that the medication – developed with the well intentioned goal of decreasing the risk of cardiac diseases – had sought to remedy. This instructional series was designed as part of a whole, cognizant of the fact that detailed images are thought to be more credible and more memorable to jurors than overly simplified schematics. I made sure to employ a level of sophistication that the jury could relate to, but with care not to offend the squeamish.
