About

I’m a classically trained designer, with a BA (not a BFA) degree from Penn State, earned during the era when the football team was in the news for all the right reasons. After graduating, I made my living as a graphic designer, doing a little bit of everything — as expected — for a decade or so. Then — unexpectedly — a recruiter called, which ultimately led me to narrow my design focus to the then nascent field of litigation graphics. Since that fateful day, I’ve been taken to court more times than I can count, plying my trade in service to litigators and their experts, helping them explain their cases to juries visually.

What I do has been described as the design of understanding. It’s work that is measured in its effectiveness and its ability to clarify, but which doesn’t sacrifice aesthetics. It’s not pretty, not shocking, not trendy, and not different for different’s sake; it’s handsome, strategic and consistent. It requires rigorous thinking and effort, which is why I find it so rewarding.
